Author Guidelines

To submit a new paper to our journal:

  1. Register on the Journal website; we encourage you to register also as a Reviewer at the same time;
  2. Follow the Guidelines for Authors for preparation of your manuscript;
  3. Read our Editorial Policies and our Competing Interest policies.
  4. Log in;
  5. Click on the "NEW SUBMISSION" button to start the online procedure.

To submit a revised version:

  1. Log in;
  2. Click on the title of your paper;
  3. Next to the heading "REVISIONS", upload your revised paper by using the "UPLOAD FILE" button;
  4. Inform the Editors that a revised version has been uploaded.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word file format.
  • The text is double-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed at the end of the manuscript.
  • Competing interest disclosure form(s) is (are) included.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in the field "Comments to the Editor").
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in "About the Journal".

Original Articles

Original Articles should concern rheumatology as well as other subjects not strictly related to rheumatology, but of interest to a rheumatological readership; they must concern material never published before (in part or in full).
Requirements: Original Articles must not exceed 3500 words excluding references, tables and figure legends. The total number of figures or tables should not exceed 6.

Reviews

Reviews will deal with current problems of major interests; they should not exceed 4000 words and 5 among tables and figures. Reumatismo publishes also monographic issues composed only of reviews that are commissioned to authors.

Case Reports

Case reports and Short reports should describe a condition whose characteristics may provide a contribution of general interest.
Requirements: Case and Short Reports must not be longer than 1800 words, figures, tables and references excluded. 15 references or less and a maximum of 2 figures or tables are allowed. The total number of authors should not exceed 5.

Editorials

Editorials on selected subjects are accepted only on demand.
Requirements: Editorials should be limited to 1.000 words with a maximum of 20 references.

Letters to the Editor

Letters to the Editor will refer to works already published on the Journal or to topics regarded as interesting.
Requirements: Letters to the Editor must not exceed 800 words, references included.

Viewpoints

Viewpoints are manuscripts in which the authors communicate personal opinions and interpretations of available scientific data, based on their experience and research results.
Requirements: Viewpoints must not exceed 2500 words. The total number of authors should not exceed 3 and a maximum of 3 figures or tables is allowed.

62nd National Congress of the Italian Society of Rheumatology

Dear Colleagues,

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the 62nd National Congress of the Italian Society of Rheumatology, which is once again being held in the familiar setting of the Rimini Conference Centre, a place that has become symbolic for our scientific community.

The Congress is an essential event for all of us, not only for professional development, but also for discussion, collective growth and strengthening the bonds within our society. This year, the Congress has once again been accredited by the ECM (Italian Continuing Medical Education) to allow for even wider participation and to meet the needs of all colleagues.

The programme for this edition has been designed to offer a dynamic journey, rich in innovative content, open to interdisciplinary dialogue and future challenges.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the SIR, and to mark the occasion, we will be organising an opening ceremony that will include a session dedicated to the evolution of rheumatology: from its historical roots to new perspectives linked to artificial intelligence, with two highly knowledgeable speakers capable of conveying passion and enthusiasm.

In addition to the plenary sessions and institutional symposia, we are also confirming the formulas that have been so successful over the years: the Hands On courses, the “Meet the Expert” sessions, the “Question Time” sessions and the traditional Review Course on Saturday morning, which will offer participants the opportunity to update themselves on topics of great practical impact.

Ample space will also be reserved for oral presentations (including those in English) and poster displays, where we will have the opportunity to take stock of the research activities of national groups. As every year, we will reward the authors of the best presentations. We are also renewing the “Verso EULAR” initiative, which highlights the contribution of our young scientific community.

Our colleagues from SIRyoung will once again be protagonists this year, with a space dedicated to them, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to the younger generation.

There will also be activities for health professionals, coordinated by For-Rheuma, and meetings with patient associations, key partners in the treatment process and in dialogue with institutions.

Once again this year, we will have our usual convivial and sporting event with the SIR RUN. After the great success of last year's edition, on Wednesday evening, running enthusiasts will be able to try their hand at two routes, 5 and 10 km, or a 5 km walking route.

As always, the success of this Congress depends on the quality of each of your contributions. I am confident that this edition will once again offer valuable insights, strengthening our sense of belonging to a vibrant, authoritative and constantly evolving Society.

In this spirit, and on behalf of the entire Executive Committee, I wish you stimulating days, rich in content and fruitful professional and personal relationships.
